Welcome to Badger Class Our Teacher is Mrs Thomas and our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Taylor and Mrs Blakemore. We love our classrooms, which are full of light and laughter. We have our own library area, which we look after and make our own book reviews to share with the rest of the school. In Badger Class, we have high expectations of ourselves and each other, we are role models to the rest of the school and love to share our learning with our friends. We love reading in Badger Class and always have a class book on the go.
Please hear your child read regularly, ideally every day. Please then write in their reading diary and teachers will sign planners on a Monday. Your child will be awarded dojo points for reading at home. If your child is accessing AR, then they will complete a quiz at the end of each book.
This year we will be using RWInc Spelling to help us learn our spellings. Your child will be allocated a task to complete at home to help them with their learning.
Also, there is a list of the year 5 and 6 statutory spellings and a word mat of 200 high frequency words on our website – here. Your child can pick 10 spellings to practise.
Each half-term the children will receive homework based on the current topic that we are covering in school. Activities will be posted in your child’s homework book. They could be based around any part of our learning that term, from Science, to History or Design Technology. These are often larger projects which may take more time to complete and so will not be expected to be returned the following week.
We want to share your home learning in class! – Please post pictures of these pieces of homework onto your child’s portfolio onto Class DoJo and children will be awarded DoJo points for every piece of homework that they complete and share. Alternatively, you can email us at [email protected]
On the last week of half-term, class teacher’s will review all the homework and children will have the opportunity to share these pieces with their classmates. Homework in Badger class is sent out to children on a Friday at the end of the school day. Homework is due in every Wednesday as this allows for homework to be marked and new homework to be prepared. If your child has any difficulties completing the homework please let us now via class dojo or in person.
