Welcome to our Early Years department at Tilstock CE Primary School. We have a Nursery Class, Butterflies, for our 2-4 year olds, taught by Mrs Finch and Mrs Davey; and a Reception class, Bumblebees taught by Mrs Griffiths and Mrs Lowe. We are a team of passionate Early Years educators committed to fostering each child’s unique potential.
Our approach is centered around nurturing their innate curiosity and creativity. We are proud achievers of the Quality Mark for Early Years.
Through a rich tapestry of activities, we aim to spark a lifelong love for learning. We provide a diverse range of experiences that cater to different learning styles, ensuring that every child feels valued and inspired.
Our curriculum is designed to develop confident, inquisitive learners who are not just prepared for the next stage of their education but are eager to embrace it with enthusiasm.

Our Early Years classroom is set up to enable independence in the children’s learning with provocations set up to entice learning through play.
We are proud to part of the Tilstock family and we have high expectations for everything we do. From smart walking, demonstrating our school values to following our school rules ‘Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Resilient, Be Safe’.
Every morning we all enjoy daily sessions of Phonics following the Read, Write, Inc programme. We learn English, Maths, Reading, and Handwriting every morning too.
In the afternoons, we enjoy enriching activities such as art, cooking, continuous provision based around our theme and English topics. Alongside child-initiated sessions to enable them to develop the key strands of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
